Editorial Guidelines for PressHub Contributors

Welcome to PressHub. These guidelines uphold the standards that make our platform trustworthy while protecting our contributors and operations.

Core Commitments

PressHub is dedicated to connecting independent journalists and readers worldwide. All contributors pledge to:

  • Maintain the highest journalistic ethics
  • Report with accuracy and fairness
  • Protect source confidentiality
  • Verify before publishing
  • Distinguish fact from interpretation

Ethical Standards

Contributors must follow recognized journalistic principles:

  • Accuracy and balance in all reporting
  • Independence from outside influence
  • Accountability for published content
  • Minimizing harm to sources and subjects
  • Transparency in methodology

We recommend the SPJ Code of Ethics as foundational reference.

Content Requirements

Accepted Content:

  • ✅ Original investigative journalism
  • ✅ Analytical and opinion pieces
  • ✅ Expert commentary and specialized reporting
  • ✅ Photo-driven and multimedia narratives
  • ✅ In-depth features and long-form work

To maintain quality and prevent spam:

  • Maximum 3 active links per piece (beyond source citations)
  • Links must enhance reader understanding
  • No affiliate or scheme links
Links should serve the story, not external agendas

Media Policy:

Video Content:

  • ❌ Do not upload video files directly
  • Video hosting exceeds our volunteer budget
  • ✅ Embed videos from:
    • YouTube
    • Vimeo
    • Other established hosts
  • Videos must directly relate to your content

Images:

  • ✅ Upload only images you have rights to use
  • Include attribution for licensed content
  • Keep files under 5MB where practical

Prohibited

  • ❌ Plagiarism or copyright infringement
  • ❌ Knowingly false or misleading information
  • ❌ Harassment, threats, or hate speech
  • ❌ Promotional spam disguised as journalism
  • ❌ Malware or malicious content
  • ❌ Breach of source agreements
  • ❌ Unauthorized private information

Account Management

We reserve the right to:

  • Limit accounts that violate guidelines
  • Remove content failing standards
  • Act immediately on serious breaches

Account actions may follow:

  • Repeated guideline violations
  • Publishing provably false material
  • Harassing other users
  • Platform manipulation
  • Resource abuse

Enforcement concerns conduct and standards, not the political nature of your journalism.

Appeals:

Contact us via our contact page if you believe an action was made in error.

Community Standards

Engagement:

  • Respect fellow contributors
  • Argue ideas, not individuals
  • Accept constructive criticism
  • Sources are sacrosanct

Corrections:

  • Fix mistakes promptly
  • Note corrections visibly
  • Update developing stories

Contributor Rights

You retain:

  • Copyright to original work
  • Republication rights
  • Profile ownership
  • Content management

We provide:

  • Publication platform
  • Technical infrastructure
  • Privacy safeguards
  • Journalist community

Resource Considerations

As a volunteer operation, we request:

  • Embed media instead of large uploads
  • Optimize images pre-upload
  • Minimize server demands
  • Appreciate capacity limits
